The National Eligibility Entrance Test, commonly known as NEET, is the qualifying test for MBBS and BDS programmes across recognized Indian medical and dental colleges. The following is a statistical analysis- assessed on a select few criteria- of the candidates who have appeared for the exam.
Seats
Since 2014, over 5000 medical seats have been added. In 2020, 1,60,330 seats were open for the taking across MBBS, BDS, Ayush, BVSC & AH. For 2021, an additional 3,017 seats were added to the fray across MBBS, BDS, BVSC & AH while Ayush stayed the same.
Candidates
In 2020, a total of 1,597,435 candidates had registered for the exam. 85% of the registered candidates had attended the exam and 771,500 candidates had qualified. Meanwhile in 2021, 1,614,777 candidates had registered for the exam. There was an overall turnaround of 1,544,275 (above 90%) and a total of 870,074 candidates qualified.
