About IBPS RRB Exam


Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Regional Rural Bank Exam (IBPS RRB Exam) is a national-level banking exam held annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection for recruiting candidates in the RRBs. The recruitment is carried out for  Group “A”- Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group “B”- Office Assistant (Multipurpose) posts. Candidates are selected based on the Preliminary exam, Mains/single level exam, and Interview round for officer level posts, and for Office Assistant (Multipurpose)/Clerk posts, candidates are selected based on the Preliminary and Main exams. Shortlisted candidates are assigned to one of the participating RRBs based on the number of openings and the merit-cum-preference system.

Eligibility Criteria


IBPS established the IBPS RRB eligibility requirements in terms of nationality, age limit, and educational qualification. The following requirements must be met by applicants to be considered for IBPS RRB 2023.


  • Nationality


  • A citizen of India

  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan

  • A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling

  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.


  • Age Limit (as of 01/06/2023) 


  • For Officer Scale- III- Candidates should be above 21 years and below 40 years.

  • For Officer Scale-II- Candidates should be above 21 years and below 32 years.

  • For Officer Scale- I- Candidates should be above 18 years and below 30 years.

  • For Office Assistant (Multipurpose) – Candidates should be above 18 years and below 30 years


  • Educational Qualification & Experience


  • Officer Assistant (Multipurpose): Candidates should hold a valid bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university. The candidates should have practical knowledge of computers

  • Assistant Manager (Scale-I): Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in any of the discipline’s agriculture, horticulture, information technology, forestry, animal husbandry, veterinary science, agricultural engineering, management, Pisciculture, law, economics or accountancy, agricultural marketing, and cooperation, from a recognized university. The working knowledge of computers will also be appreciated.

  • Officer Scale-II General Banking Officer: Candidates having a degree in Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy will be given preference.

  • Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (IT): Candidates having a degree in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology with a minimum of 50% marks Certification in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP, etc will be given preference.

  • Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (CA): Certified Associate (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

  • Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (LA): Degree in Law with a minimum of 50% marks.

  • Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (Treasury Manager): Certified Associate (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India OR MBA in Finance.

  • Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (Marketing Officer): MBA in Marketing

  • Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (Agriculture Officer): Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy, Animal Husbandry, Forestry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, and Pisciculture with a minimum of 50% marks.

  • Officer Scale-III: Candidates with a Degree/Diploma in Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy will be given preference.


  • Work Experience


  • Officer Scale-II and General Banking Officer (Manager): 2 years of working experience as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.

  • Officer Scale-II Specialist Officer (Manager)

  • For Information Technology Officer: 1 year of working experience

  • For CA: 1 year as a CA

  • For Law Officer: 2 years of working experience as an advocate or Law Officer in a Bank or in a Financial Institution

  • For Treasury Officer: 1 year of working experience

  • For Marketing Officer: 1 year of working experience

  • For Agricultural Officer: 2 years of working experience

  • Officer Scale III (Senior Manager): At least 5 years of working experience as an officer in a Bank or in a Financial Institution.
